It has low binding affinity for the androgen receptor, but is a strong activator of androgen receptor-induced protein synthesis and erythropoietin production [1].

Stanozolol is no longer marketed in the USA, but retains approval in other countries. Medical use in humans includes treatment of hereditary angioedema and other vascular disorders. Stanozolol is a WADA anti-doping catergory 'S1-Anabolic Agent' that is banned by a number of sporting bodies as it is has been exploited as a performance-enhancing drug. It is also a veterinary medicine.
