Mechanism Of Action and Pharmacodynamic Effects Click here for help
Antagonist of beta-adrenergic receptors which inhibits the effects of adrenaline and noradrenaline at the vascular smooth muscle, decreasing heart rate, cardiac output and systolic and diastolic blood pressure. Antagonism of the beta-2 adrenoceptors in bronchial smooth muscle causes vasoconstriction. Production of angiotensin II and aldosterone is inhibited through inhibition of renin production.
