Used as an appetite suppressant to aid weight loss in programmes which include diet and exercise. This drug is not approved for use in the EU.

The main action of this drug is to inhibit noepinephrine reuptake by the transporter SLC6A2. The resulting increase in free noepinephrine appears to suppress appetite and hunger signals. The drug may have other mechanistic actions. See the DrugBank link for further details.
