Summary of Clinical Use
Used to treat rheumatoid and osteoarthritis, primary dysmenorrhoea and postoperative pain.
Mechanism Of Action and Pharmacodynamic Effects
As with other NSAIDs, this drug reduces prostaglandin synthesis by reducing cyclooxegenase (COX) activity. Piroxicam also affects leukocyte migration to inflammatory sites. See the DrugBank link for further details.
