Guide to Malaria Pharmacology Comments
Sulfalene is a sulfonamide containing compound, a chemical class that includes the approved antimalarial drug sulfadoxine. Sulfonamides are structural analogues of 4-aminobenzoic acid (pABA) an intermediate in the de novo synthesis of folate by some prokaryotes, lower eukaryotes (including Plasmodium sp.) and plants [1-2].
