Immunopharmacology Comments
CD24 is a small GPI-anchored sialoglycoprotein that is expressed by immune cells. It is involved in B cell and T cell functions. CD24 binds to SIGLEC10 in an interaction that selectively suppresses the immune response to danger-associated molecular patterns (DAMPs). This latter action is being exploited as a mechanism to reduce DAMP-induced inflammation in patients with COVID-19 and GvHD, using the CD24 mimetic MK-7110.
