Biologically Significant Variant Comments
A total of 189 SNPs have been identified in human KCNA5. For more information please see the entry on GeneCards.
General Comments
Kv1.8 can co-assemble with other Kv1 family members, however it cannot do so with members of other Kv families.

It has an intronless coding region, like many other members of the family (except Kv1.7)

It is a member of the mammalian Shaker-related family. A null mutation leads to vestibular dysfunction [5].
