Benapenem, like ertapenem, has a longer serum half-life (~7 h) than other prescribed carbapenems making it suitable for once-daily administration [2].
Benapenem has progressed to Phase 2/3 evaluation as a treatment for complicated urinary tract infection (cUTI) and acute pyelonephritis (NCT04505683, recruitment completed).
